Find your voice, tell your story + start a ripple of transformation.
Your word can be a magnetic force in this world.
Your stories + adventures, your pain and triumphs all have the potential to transform to inspire others.
Connect with others. Encourage + engage.
Your words can show others that they are not alone.
Take a moment + ask yourself:
How would sharing your story change the world around you?
How would telling your truth change you?
It’s time to Tell your truth.
Learn the practice of hypnotic, transformative storytelling.
This is more than just telling someone your story.
Transformative storytelling is the practice of sitting with the most pivotal moments of your life…
Pulling out as much wisdom from it as you can…
And then sharing that story in its most impactful form — as a form of art.
ENOUGH.
You tap through your IG stories wondering where all these people found extravagant confidence to speak their truth.
You want to share what you’ve been through but you get stuck in these tangents.
It doesn’t sound cohesive.
It might even sound forced or fake.
You watch other people articulate so eloquently. Natural. With flow.
And you might think: “I can never do that.”
You might be too in your head.
Trying to make sense of it all.
But still you have this aching inside to you write about your life.
When you dive into The Tell, you will…
D I S C O V E R
the depths of yourself within your story,
H E A L
memories that once kept you frozen and
A L I G N
with the most unshakeable version of yourself.
It’s about the art you’ll make.
It’s your choice to experience this all.

ATTN:
I am anti-racist + LGBTQIA-inclusive — and all spaces I hold for others is, too.
I believe that Black lives, transgender lives + BIPOC wellness matters.
I’m your guide, Carla…
…and I’ve written too many of these introductions to count.
Right now, it’s 3 a.m. and I’m in New Jersey on the floor of a room filled with candles (two burning, most of the others burnt down to the wick).
I’m living in my late grandfather-in-law’s old home and I swear I can feel the spirit of him and his wife.
I’m a week away from turning 30. Thirty.
It feels a little surreal. Not because I hate it but because so many different versions of me have existed before this decade.
Here’s the short of it:
I’m a journalist, editor, poet + mentor for women who crave creative + emotional expansion.
I was a reporter in Hawaii, living down the road from my sisters. My life was perfect and I was a wildcard. I reported on Native Hawaiian issues and secretly obsessed over whether or not I could surf better than the women in my life.
I was about to get married and I had taken a month-long trip to Bali because that’s where women in their 20s go to find themselves, right?
I was an assistant at a famous television studio in L.A. I dreamed of writing my own show. My ex-boyfriend left me — he did to me what they would call “ghosting” today — and it broke me for years.
I wrote so many poems about how much it hurt.
I once read one of said poems at an open mic at a dive bar five years later and no one paid attention. Everyone was too drunk to care.
RIGHT NOW…
I’m a senior editor at a national news site + a transformational coach.
I know first-hand how storytelling can transform lives — the writer’s life, the subject’s life and the readers’ too.
I’ve written personal essays about facing my childhood trauma at a virtual sex party, what it was like to run for dear life when I thought a nuclear missile was headed for Hawaii, and what marriage and sex and religion looks like.
In each story I tell, I uncover new depths in my own life. New lessons. More connections.
You deserve to find those depths within yourself, too.
